About Mira

Art. Writing. Design. Lettering.

Bringing comic book and design projects to life with stylish, professional and creative gusto.

Mira Mortal is an independent comic book writer, illustrator, colorist and letterer.  Her six-part webcomic, I.D., is available for free on the MortalDream Creative website.  SPLIT, her debut comic with artist John “JAR” Rodriguez, came to life through a successful Kickstarter campaign, and the pair often appear in anthologies by Red Stylo Media. Their latest book has a home with Source Point Press, due for publication in 2017. Mira is currently a letterer for 5D Comics. You can find her on Twitter and roaming the show floor of at least one comics industry event per year. More examples of her work, past and present, can be found below.

POWERS & ABILITIES.

From traditional medium like pencils, inks, paints and markers to modern digital illustration and editing software, Mira has the skills and experience to be creative with no matter what she’s given. If she’s not behind a digital drawing tablet, she’s honing her craft with the mightiest of swords. Sometimes literally swords and staffs. No, like, really.
01. DIGITAL.

Mira has extensive experience with and mastery of a variety of digital creation applications including Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Scrivener, Manga Studio, and more. She primarily uses Wacom tablets for digital illustration. Mira also has some experience with various 3D modeling packages and looks to develop her 3D skills in her (increasingly rare) spare time.

02. TRADITIONAL.

Mira loves to mix things up, especially when it comes to creating things with traditional mediums. She can, of course, draw and letter with pencils and inks, but she’s even gone so far as to develop unique styles for particular projects, including a charcoal aesthetic for her webcomic I.D.! Acrylic paints, markers and colored pencils are right at home in her creative and skillful hands. Bringing a traditionally-drawn project to life digitally with flats, colors and letters are of course no sweat for her, either.

03. OTHER STUFF.

Besides comic work, Mira has an extensive background in graphic design, logo design, copywriting, editing, proofreading and layout. If you need a business card design or a branding revamp, she can work with you to refresh your style or come up with an entirely new brand identity! If your comic script or copy language needs a skilled editor to make sure it passes linguistic and grammatical muster, look no further than Mira.
